Hay Season Again

Our third hay season in Whatcom County. I love hay season. Fresh hay curing in the sun is my absolute favorite smell in the world - better than freshly turned earth after a rain, better than perfectly ripe strawberries, better than healthy pony. The only smell that rivals fresh hay is newborn baby-head.

I've been taking pictures of the hay in the fields around here. Here are a few of them:

There's a great beauty in this time of year! Seeing bales of hay, ready to help out the farm is a delight! Great tradition.

I don't comment often, but please know, I check your blog every day (and read all about your adventures!).

I have never seen nor smelled a hay season. Here in Cali, we call our hay supply, make an order, and they deliver it the same day. Why, they even unload and put it away for us...

Enjoy the hay season. Can you video the smells? Ha!
