A couple moves from the big city to the countryside and starts a small farm...wait, you've heard this premise before? What? Trite? Hackneyed? But, I have goats. Really cute pictures of tiny baby goats. And cheesemaking recipes. We slaughter our own pigs and cure our own bacon! Well, that's in the master plan, anyway. Just read it, you'll see.

I Spoke Too Soon
Well, I'm not in Oaxaca. We are all still here enjoying the sub-zero wind chill factor. Travel document issue, and that's all I'm going to say about it. Well, that, and my husband is a mensch.
I just read through your preparations to "get away" and feel really badly that you didn't. I have critters also and NEVER get away since my husband died.

I found farmsitters on craigslist, with references and everything, and they were willing to take $20/day. I don't know what the going rate is where you are or how big is your farm. Merry christmas!
