Firstly, I so agree that self-sufficiency is not isolationism! The longer my husband and I strive for self-reliance, the more we realize that it's best context is a community of like-minded folks. Being able to support one another and help in large work projects is the heart of a good agrarian community. Also have to say you must have a large refrigerator for all that milk!
