Marcus says this is fire blight on the pear tree. (I don't why everything is underlined now. I can't fix it. To hell with it.) All the pear trees have it to some degree. I may have to spray. I think Marcus said sulfur. Anybody?
A couple moves from the big city to the countryside and starts a small farm...wait, you've heard this premise before? What? Trite? Hackneyed? But, I have goats. Really cute pictures of tiny baby goats. And cheesemaking recipes. We slaughter our own pigs and cure our own bacon! Well, that's in the master plan, anyway. Just read it, you'll see.

State of the Farm, Late Summer
Django eating thistles. The goats do eat thistles, but not with great enthusiasm and not nearly enough of them to make a dent in the great sea of thistles that covers 75% of my pasture.

The roses like the hot dry weather. They are blooming for the third time this year.
My plum tree is bearing. First year! I thought the plums would never get ripe, but finally they are turning purple.
Its funny th edifference in what goats eat. Mine would chew thistles down to a nub and go back and chew on it some more.. Then there are other things that I cant think of off the top of my head they wont touch..
ReplyDeletePretty animals. Poppy is so cute!
Yeah on th efruit we are going to pick pears this weekend..
Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving a comment. I love your animals, especially those gorgeous spotted goats!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jennifer! I'm trying to breed for more spots. I'm keeping my best spotted male as a herd sire ... that means selling his mama, who is a very pretty spotted goat, but oh well, I think Storm will throw me tons of spots! Your blog is delightful!
